In 2017 we chose the name g a b b r o in reference to the volcanic igneous rock. It dated from Hanne's earlier childhood-obsession with stones and it suited the sounds of the extended techniques on the baritone saxophone very well we thought. However, it was until a tour in Italy last year, that we discovered that there also exists a picturesque village in Tuscany with the same name. It wasn't long before this discovery gave us ideas: what if we would hitchhike from Brussels to Gabbro, making music in all sorts of special places along the way, meeting people through the music and all the different rides we would need and ending the adventure with a final concert in Gabbro itself? Is it too crazy an idea to count on so much luck and assume that there will be enough friendly drivers who will want to take us and our instruments for a trip totalling 1,200 kilometres through five different countries? Would hitchhiking be still doable whatsoever? Where would we sleep? And will there be people in Gabbro willing to come and listen? Or maybe even join in?

From 18th ‘till 26th of October, Hanne and Belgian drum hero Casper Van De Velde will head to Gabbro with cinematographer Seppe Van Grieken and sound engineer Oscar Claus in their wake.

The result of their adventure will be a musical documentary and an album that will cross several worlds and languages, consisting of unexpected sounds and meetings, featuring other musical friends that will join along the way.

Do you happen to live on the way from Brussels to Gabbro or in Gabbro itself? Are you interested in participating in this project? We are looking for hosts that might have some extra beds along our way and residents of Gabbro that want to help set up the concert. Please let us know if you would be interested! hanne.debacker@gmail.com
